Teen can leave house to look for job
A Cook County judge will allow an 18-year-old on home confinement facing a reckless homicide charge to leave home to apply for a job to raise money for his legal defense. However, he must be accompanied by a parent.
On Thursday, Judge John Scotillo rejected defense attorney Barry Sheppard's request that Kevin Schuh, a former Hersey High School student, be allowed to leave his home in the 1700 block of Kensington in Mount Prospect to go to the health club or to do charity work.
His 24-hour curfew imposed last December as a condition of his $500,000 bond, allows him to leave to meet with his lawyer or receive medical treatment. Prospect Heights police charged Schuh with aggravated drunken driving and reckless homicide in the hit-and-run death of Arlington Heights teen Monika Skrzypkowski last December.
Assistant State's Attorney Karen Crothers opposed any bond modifications calling them "unwarranted."
