How could she do nothing to stop this?

I have reread the article about the charges that Marni Yang had a well-planned scheme to kill Rhoni Reuter and her unborn daughter. I kept coming back to two paragraphs: the one that details how she stayed at a friend's home the night prior to the murders and told her friend that she was going to commit this crime the following day together with the paragraph that follows. It describes how this friend accompanied her when she disposed of the disguise and stolen license plates and then buried items that she had stolen in a Cook County Forest Preserve. If this is true, all I can think to myself is: How can this "friend" live with herself knowing that she had the ability to save the lives of this woman and her unborn child and did absolutely nothing to try to stop this diabolical plot?
