2 children hurt in Streamwood fire

Two children suffered minor smoke inhalation from a fire that left a Streamwood residence uninhabitable.

The blaze started around 4:30 p.m. in a bedroom of a single-family on the 200 block of Jill Lane and was extinguished within 15 minutes, acting Streamwood Fire Batallion Chief Tim McCoy said.

An adult escaped unharmed and two children were treated and released at the scene.

Firefighters saw flames shooting out the front windows upon their arrival and investigators believe the fire caused up to $120,000 in damage.

Crews from Hoffman Estates, Hanover Park, Bartlett and East Dundee assisted.

The cause is under investigation, McCoy said.
