Antioch mayoral candidate speak

The Antioch Junior Woman's Club has invited the Antioch mayoral candidates to speak at their next meeting on March 10 at 6:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend. The group is gathering at the AmericaUnited Bank, 485 Lake St., Antioch. The club has invited candidates Bob Caulfield, Larry Hanson, Erik Peters and Kris Murphy. Charge dismissed

To update an Aug. 14, 2008 police blotter item in some editions of the Daily Herald Neighbor section, Kildeer police confirm the Lake County court system has dismissed an aggravated assault charge against Karin Walter-Spiess, of the 21000 block of Hidden Valley Drive, Kildeer. The charge stemmed from a July 28, 2008 arrest during a domestic disturbance.

Polar plungers

Community leaders, students, business owners, members of law enforcement and plain folks will jump into Lake Michigan at 1 p.m. today to benefit Special Olympics. Check in begins at 11 a.m. at the Lake Bluff park district office, 355 W. Washington Ave. and plungers will be bused to Sunrise Beach. A post-plunge party follows. Participants each raise a minimum of $75 to support their local Special Olympics program. Each plunger receives a sweatshirt and lunch. Costumes are encouraged. Visit www.soill.org.

Village board meets

The Fox Lake village board will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the board room, 66 Thillen Drive, to discuss an intergovernmental agreement with the Solid Waste Agency of Lake County and other issues. Committee meetings are set to begin at 6 p.m. the same night.
