Second northwest suburban bank robbed

Less than 12 hours after a Hanover Park bank was robbed Monday afternoon, a man robbed a TCF Bank on the 300 block of Euclid Avenue in Mount Prospect, officials said.

Officer Greg Sill of the Mount Prospect Police Department said the offender walked up to the teller of the bank inside the Jewel Food Store on Monday night, requested money, then fled.

He added the man fled the scene with an undetermined amount of cash. Officers are still trying to determine in which direction the man ran.

The offender is described as a male, about 6-feet tall and 210 pounds. He was wearing a black ski mask, with a brown fleece coat. He was also wearing black gloves, blue jeans and brown or black leather shoes.

Mount Prospect police and FBI agents are investigating. Anyone with information should contact police at (847) 870-5656.

Hanover Park police, meanwhile, released more information on the bank robber they say struck at the Chase Bank on the 1600 block of Irving Park Road on Monday afternoon.

The offender is described as a white male in his late 40s to late 50s, 5-foot-5 to 5-foot-9, with a thin build. He wore a camouflage pattern University of Illinois ball cap over a dark winter cap, a dark jacket and white gloves. His vehicle is described as a late-'90s to early-2000s maroon or purple Chevrolet compact with possible rear-end damage.

Anyone with information should contact investigator Dan Granias of the Hanover Park police at (630) 372-4427.
