Deny Pinney another term on Dist. 214 board

I am disappointed to see that Leslie Pinney is trying to be re-elected to District 214's board of education. As a board member, she tried to ban books and other educational materials from the curriculum. Thank goodness that the other board members resisted her challenge.

Our students and the community deserve schools with an academic curriculum that encourages students to read, write, and reach for higher goals. Censorship of academic materials violates our freedom of speech as guaranteed by our constitution. Students will not excel if the curriculum is limited as Leslie Pinney would like to do.

Please join me in voting for responsible people for the District 214 board. I am voting for incumbents Lenore Bragaw, Mimi Cooper, Jim Perkins and Mark Hineman.
