Streamwood man gets boot camp for theft, guns
A Streamwood man received a four-year prison sentence for burglary and possession of stolen firearms.
The judge recommended Streamwood resident Blake Wheeler, of the 700 block of Ridge Circle, for the Illinois Impact Incarceration program, also known as boot camp.
Streamwood police arrested Wheeler, 18, at his home last August. They said they recovered two rifles and a revolver along with cuff links and watches they said were stolen from a Schaumburg home in late July.
Boot camp is available for first- or second-time offenders age 36 and younger who receive a sentence of eight years or less. Admission to the 120-day program is not automatic. Prisoners who fail to complete it for any reason, must serve out the remainder of their sentences.
