Source: Rex may become a Tex
HOUSTON - A person familiar with the negotiations says the Houston Texans have agreed to a deal with quarterback Rex Grossman.
The person, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the agreement had not yet been announced, said Grossman is expected to sign after passing a physical.
Grossman, an unrestricted free agent, led the Bears to the NFC championship in 2006 and a 19-17 loss to the Indianapolis Colts in Super Bowl XLI. He did not sustain that success and was replaced last season by Kyle Orton.
Grossman, 28, will compete with Alex Brink to be Houston's third quarterback behind starter Matt Schaub and Dan Orlovsky, who spent last season in Detroit.
Grossman has spent his entire six-year career with the Bears. He finished his stint with 33 touchdowns and 35 interceptions.
