Change needed in Lake Zurich, too
Our presidential election talked about "change" and now it is time for Lake Zurich to vote for a "change," which would be a change from Mayor Tolomei's style of ignoring the residents' opinions and only listening to the developers.
Last summer a few chosen residents were invited to the police station and asked for their opinions on how they wanted the downtown to be built. The majority said "no more than three stories and bring back our quaint town."
However, Mr. Smith came into a quiet, single-family residential neighborhood called Nestlerest and wants to put up two four-story buildings bringing in hundreds of cars and people against the residents' objection. The mayor supports this concept and even told one resident "you had it good long enough." >
Mr. Smith continues with his intentions to build three-story buildings on the corner of Route 22 (Main Street) and Robertson Road that will again affect local residents.
The Mayor is selling our parcels in the downtown area to Mr. Smith for $10.00 each and wants to sell part of our Breezewald Park without a referendum. If he doesn't build in a timely fashion, who gets the $10.00 parcels?
Seems like Mayor Tolomei is giving our town away so let's vote for the "Care" candidates consisting of Trustee Suzanne Branding for mayor, Rich Sustich, Jeff Halen and Jonathan Sprawka for Trustees and Wende Dau for Clerk. See carelakezurich.org.
