Packey Webb Ford has earned respect
The article entitled, "Wheaton, auto dealer at odds over used cars" was troubling to me. What Howard Levine said was a disgrace. I've known the Webbs for 12 years and I've never seen a LeBaron on the lot of Packey Webb Ford, much less one from 1978.
I am a former employee of Packey Webb Ford and worked directly with Greg, John and Brad Webb on many occasions. They provided many of my friends and I with jobs while we were in school, and they always treated us with the utmost respect. They are respectable businessmen who work hard and do it the right way.
When Howard Levine said, "I don't want it to become a used car center that steadily and surely dilapidates and is the first thing that greets you when you come into Wheaton," he must have forgotten the dilapidated apartment buildings across from Packey Webb Ford that resemble some Chicago Housing Authority structures.
When he said, "I don't want it to become a used car center that steadily and surely dilapidates and is the first thing that greets you when you come into Wheaton," he must have forget about the thousands of campaign signs he littered on Wheaton's borders when he ran for office, and probably won't think twice about bombarding Wheaton citizens with the same garbage when he runs for re-election. The plethora of signs sure is welcoming to those who come into our city. Has any member of Packey Webb Ford ever received campaign literature from Howard Levine, asking for a donation? Most likely -- I've gotten a lot. While the Webbs do a lot for Wheaton, Levine pretends to.
I worked at Packey Webb Ford. I know the Webbs. I, like Howard Levine, am a Milton Township Committeeman, so I know him. Howard has a long way to go to get my respect the way the Webbs have.
