Judson tabs Pearce new volleyball coach

Judson University has named Jill Pearce as its new women's volleyball coach.

Pearce, who was the Eagles' assistant coach this past season, replaces Craig Vlietstra who resigned to take an assistant coaching job at Grand Valley State.

"Jill has done an excellent job as an assistant for the Judson volleyball program and has definitely earned the head coaching position," said Judson athletic director Nancy Binger. "Her enthusiasm and dedication to the program has been evident already. She is a great addition to our staff."

Pearce came to Judson after being an assistant coach at Crystal Lake South High School. She helped coach the Gators to regional championships in 2003 and 2006.

"I am excited about all of the possibilities the Judson volleyball team has," said Pearce. "We have a great group of returning players and already have some strong recruits that will make an immediate impact to this program. I want to help take the Judson volleyball program to the next level. I have high expectations for this team and I believe that they can achieve anything they set their mind to."

Pearce has also coached for the Sky High and Fusion volleyball clubs. She played at Crystal Lake South and for Beloit College. At South, as Jill Campioni, she played for the Gators' Class AA state runner-up team in 1995.

Men's basketball

All-CCAC: Four Judson University men's basketball players have earned all-CCAC status.

Landon Skinner was named the CCAC Freshman of the Year and he made the all-CCAC first team. He led the CCAC in scoring for most of the season and finished third with a 19.1 per game average. He also finished third in assists (3.4) and steals (1.7). Overall, he was in the top 10 in eight different categories for the CCAC.

For the fourth year in a row, Dewayne Robinson was voted onto the All-CCAC first team. Only playing one semester, he averaged 19.9 points per game and scored 20.9 in CCAC play. Because he did not play in 75 percent of Judson's games, he did not qualify for any placing in the CCAC statistics. In that one semester, he was named the CCAC Player of the Week four times. He finishes his career at Judson with 1,801 points, which is good for third all-time. He is also the only CCAC player to be named to the first-team four straight times in the last 10 years.

Ben Rayhorn and Josh Edwards were selected honorable mention.

Women's basketball

All-CCAC: Judson University had three players earn all-CCAC status for women's basketball. Juniors Alicia Rovertoni, Kirstin Johns, and Aubrey Parsons were all honored.

Rovertoni and Johns were named to the All-CCAC first team. Rovertoni, for the second year in a row, earned the CCAC rebounding award with a 10.6 per game average. She was ninth in steals (2.00), 12th in field goal percentage (. 375), and 18th in scoring (8.4).

Johns finished third in the CCAC in steals (2.11). She was fifth in free throw percentage (. 694), 11th in scoring (12.0), rebounding (5.0), and field goal percentage (. 389), and 13th in blocked shots (0.36).

Parsons was selected honorable mention.
