Geriatric psychiatrist to speak at NAMI meeting
The National Alliance on Mental Illness for DeKalb, Kane-South, and Kendall Counties will hold a general meeting on Saturday, March 21, at the Behavioral Health Building in the Dunleavy-Walsh Conference Room (second floor) on the Provena Mercy Medical Center Campus in Aurora.
Coffee will be served at 9:30 a.m., and the speaker will begin at 10 a.m.
The speaker is Dr. Georgina Srinivas Rao, board certified general and geriatric psychiatrist. She is part of the Delnor Health System and will speak on her work at Delnor and her private practice.
Dr. Rao first trained in general psychiatry at the University of Illinois at Chicago and then moved on to complete her geriatric psychiatry fellowship at Northwestern University School of Medicine. For the past six and half years, she worked in Michigan in community mental health as well as in private practice. Offering patient-centered care based on a behavioral wellness model that emphasizes the mind-body connection, Rao provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and recommendations for treatment. As indicated by assessment, Rao provides individually tailored medicine management and psychotherapy services.
