Wheaton’s Gary UMC hosts blood drive on Organ and Tissue Donor Sunday

On Nov. 8 for Organ & Tissue Donor Sunday, Gary United Methodist Church, 224 N. Main St. in Wheaton, is hosting a blood drive, open to the community, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Register at garychurch.org/registrations. Walk-ins are also welcome.

Versiti, the blood drive administrator for the church, says that every day approximately 1,500 blood donations are needed to help ensure blood is available for patients throughout our community. Versiti says although about 38% of the population is eligible to give blood, less than 5% do. And, for every pint donated, up to three lives can be saved.

The church has music, kids, youth and adult ministries, plus opportunities for local, national and global missions. On Sundays, traditional worship is at 9 a.m. and blended worship at 11:11 a.m. At both services, Kids’ Church and nursery care is available. Between services, there’s Sunday school for all ages and a coffee fellowship hour. For more information, go to garychurch.org or contact the church office at office@garychurch.org.
