Motorcyclist killed in Elmhurst crash

Elmhurst police are investigating a deadly crash involving a box truck and a motorcycle, authorities said.

According to police, officers and firefighters responded at about 4:27 p.m. Tuesday to 911 calls about a serious crash on Grand Avenue at Lamont Road.

A 21-year-old Glendale Heights man driving the motorcycle suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. His identity was being withheld pending family notification.

The truck’s driver, a 61-year-old Schaumburg man, was not injured. He remained on the scene and is cooperating with investigators, police said.

A preliminary investigation indicated the motorcycle was traveling west on Grand Avenue and the box truck was traveling east on Grand Avenue when they collided at the Lamont Road intersection.
