Northwest suburban groups unite for ‘No Kings Vote Early’ rally and Democracy Fair
As part of a nationwide mobilization of over 2,300 coordinated events, Northwest suburban residents are preparing for a day of civic action. Ten regional pro-democracy groups are joining forces to host the "No Kings Vote Early" rally and Democracy Fair on Saturday, Oct. 17, offering a community-centered space to celebrate, protect, and exercise the right to vote. The event will be 2 to 5 p.m. at North School Park, 307 N. Evergreen Ave. in Arlington Heights.
Designed as both a celebration and a practical hub for voter information and participation, the gathering features a Democracy Fair with on-site resources provided by the League of Women Voters, poster-making and kids’ coloring stations, live folk music, and a fundraising drive for the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
At 3 p.m., a lineup of prominent guest speakers will take the stage, including state Sen. Karina Villa, ACLU of Illinois Director of Communications & Public Policy Ed Yohnka, Gen Z podcaster and activist Ishaan Srivastava, and Clearbrook Director of Public Policy and Advocacy Jesse Rojo.
Folk singer Paul Budin will provide live musical performances.
The event will also feature an organized March to the Polls, giving participants the opportunity to drop off their mail-in ballots at a nearby early voting drop box.
Co-sponsored by Indivisible Elk Grove Township, Indivisible Illinois, Indivisible Niles-Maine Township, Indivisible NWSOFA, Elk Grove Township Democrats, Wheeling Democrats, Young Democrats of Wheeling Township, Hands off Wheeling, and Common Defense, the event is open to all community members, families, friends, and pets.
The Democracy Fair opens at 2 p.m. with the rally at 3 p.m. It is free and open to the public.
