Authorities: Streamwood man suffered cardiac event before crash

A 49-year-old Streamwood man found dead in a vehicle Wednesday at Van Patten Woods Forest Preserve in Wadsworth has been identified as Arkadius Knych, according to the Lake County Coroner’s Office.

An autopsy Thursday showed Knych suffered a cardiac event that caused the crash, and there were no significant injuries as a result, according to the coroner’s office.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Newport Fire Protection District responded around 1:15 p.m. Wednesday to a report of an unresponsive person near the Van Patten Woods Forest Preserve parking lot.

A vehicle left the roadway, drove through thick brush and a small tree line before coming to rest on forest preserve property, according to the coroner’s office. Knych was pronounced dead at the scene.
