Wheaton’s Gary UMC celebrates World Communion Sunday
On World Communion Sunday Oct. 4, Gary United Methodist Church, 224 N. Main St. in Wheaton, will celebrate by hearing a variety of languages.
At both the 9 and 11:11 a.m. worship services, churchgoers will hear Scripture, music and prayers in multiple languages. Some of the languages include Spanish, French, Italian, Tagalog, English and American Sign Language.
World Communion Sunday is an opportunity to celebrate the universal church that Christ opens to people of all ages, nations and races.
The sermon will ask, “Does the Whole World Read the Same Bible?” At 10:10 a.m., Bible scholars Michael Graves and Daniel Somboonsiri will teach the study, “How to Read the Bible.”
The church has vibrant music, kids, youth and adult ministries, plus opportunities for local, national and global missions. On Sundays, traditional worship is at 9 a.m. and blended worship at 11:11 a.m. At both services, Kids’ Church and nursery care is available. Between services there’s Sunday school for all ages and a coffee fellowship hour. For more information, go to garychurch.org or contact the church office at office@garychurch.org.
