Mount Prospect appoints new building and inspection services director

Mount Prospect’s new director of building and inspection services has big shoes to fill.

Archana Mohanchandra replaces Bill Schroeder, who was with the village for 20 years before becoming Bloomingdale’s building commissioner. Schroeder was involved with close to 60,000 permits and hundreds of thousands of inspections in Mount Prospect.

Mohanchandra comes to Mount Prospect from Highland Park, where she served as building division manager.

“I look forward to working collaboratively with our talented staff, residents, businesses, and development community while continuing to build on the strong foundation that has been established here,” she said.

Mohanchandra holds a bachelor of architecture from M.M. College of Architecture in Pune, India, and studied interior design at Harper College. She became a certified residential building inspector through the International Code Council.

She served as a municipal plan reviewer and project coordinator with Glenview, Oak Brook and Hanover Park before joining Highland Park.

“Archana’s direct experience in the management of municipal building departments, along with her academic accomplishments, differentiated her candidacy,” Village Manager Michael Cassady said. “We are looking forward to her positive contributions to the organization and the residents and business owners in the Village of Mount Prospect.”

Mohanchandra lives in Long Grove, where she serves on the village’s plan commission and zoning board of appeals.
