Schaumburg Boomers begin final regular-season series with a loss

The Schaumburg Boomers allowed the Washington Wild Things to score in the first three innings, opening the final series of the regular season with a 9-2 loss on the road in Pennsylvania.

The Boomers have been jumping ahead early in games, but it was Washington that struck in the first, scoring four runs. The first run of the game was a record setting homer by Anthony Brocato, who led off the game with his 37th of the year to set the Frontier League’s single-season record.

Kellum Clark homered in the second to bring the Boomers within 4-1 but Washington hit two more homers, one in the second and one in the third, to open an 8-1 edge. Frontier League Pitcher of the Year Kobe Foster was lifted after five innings and the Boomers immediately took advantage with a run in the sixth. Anthony Calarco led off with a single and scored on a Banks Tolley double.
