Harvey rushes for 4 touchdowns in Rolling Meadows’ win at Schaumburg

Rolling Meadows senior running back Luke Harvey had a big game with two touchdowns to open the 2026 football season last week.

But Harvey took his game to another level Friday night with four touchdowns in this Mid-Suburban League crossover contest at Schaumburg.

The Mustangs (1-1) fell behind the Saxons 14-3 early on. But they outscored Schaumburg 33-8 the rest of the way to capture a 33-22 victory as Harvey ran for 266 yards on 35 carries.

"We knew that we were going to come back and we just had to get the blocking down and from there everybody stepped up and made some great plays after that," said Harvey, who had 140 yards rushing in the first half. "At first it was just figuring out how their defense was slanting and blitzing, but after that we were watching the film and everyone picked it up so all of my credit goes out to them."

Schaumburg's Vinny Cretsinger got the Saxons on the scoreboard with a two-yard touchdown run before teammate Mikey Creny caught a 28-yard TD pass from Dylan Ramirez (15-for-25 passing, 193 yards) for a 14-3 lead.

But Schaumburg could not keep that offensive momentum going as Harvey scored on touchdown runs of 37 yards and 14 yards to stake the Mustangs to a 19-14 halftime lead.

"He (Harvey) runs hard, he has really good vision, and he knows when to cut back," said Schaumburg coach Mark Stilling, whose team is 0-2. "He (Harvey) earned everything he got, but I don't think we did ourselves any favors. We didn't tackle well, our pursuit angles were poor, and I don't think we had enough guys step up when they had chances."

The Saxons did take a brief 22-19 lead when Ramirez (57 yards on 12 carries) faked a handoff and bolted 40 yards for the touchdown before teammate Mason Heydecker ran in the two-point conversion late in the third quarter.

But Rolling Meadows got an 11-yard TD run and a two-point conversion run by Harvey to take the lead for good at 27-22 with 1:19 left in the third quarter. Harvey put the finishing touches on his big game with a 24-yard TD run to account for the final score with 5:58 to play.

"At the end of the day a win is a win and after halftime we came out and really showcased who we are putting together a pretty solid second half to be able to pull out the win," said Rolling Meadows coach Devonte Amos. "Luke (Harvey) is a stud, there's no doubt about it. The sparks he's able to provide our offense really helps our success so we are very grateful to have him on our team."

Rolling Meadows quarterback Austin Lindsey (10-for-20 passing, 141 yards) had a strong game with 67 yards rushing on eight attempts. Aiden Gallucci opened the Mustangs' scoring with a 35-yard field goal in the second quarter.
