Cook, Schaumburg Boomers blank Evansville

The Schaumburg Boomers scored in each of the first three innings and Cole Cook did the rest as the team streaked to a 10-0 win over the Evansville Otters on Wednesday night at Wintrust Field. The victory helped the Boomers maintain a two-game lead in the West Division with 10 games remaining in the season.

Alec Craig led off the game with a single and swiped second base. Kyle Fitzgerald notched an RBI double to put the Boomers on the scoreboard. Anthony Calarco doubled home Fitzgerald as the Boomers led 2-0.

Two more runs came across in the second on RBI singles from Craig and Calarco. The Boomers really broke the game open in the third with three additional runs. Kai Moody plated Alex Calarco with a double before Craig and Fitzgerald tacked on RBI singles to push the lead to 7-0. Schaumburg put two more on the board in the sixth and added a run in the seventh to go up 10-0.
