Schaumburg Library to introduce expanded Sunday hours beginning Sept. 13

Beginning Sunday, Sept. 13, Schaumburg Township District Library’s Central Library will open at 10 a.m. on Sundays, giving patrons more time to visit on weekends.

The expanded hours are part of a six-month pilot approved by the board of trustees following a community survey conducted in June. More than 2,500 patrons responded to the survey, sharing a wide range of perspectives on whether earlier Sunday hours would be beneficial.

A majority of respondents favored an earlier opening time and expressed a desire for greater flexibility for their families, students, errands and other weekend activities.

The library will evaluate the impact of the expanded hours following the six-month pilot before determining whether the change should be made permanent.

To celebrate the new Sunday hours, the library will also offer free printing and copying at the Central Library from Sept. 13 through 19. Limits may apply, and patrons can ask library staff for details.
