93-year-old man dies after crash in Mount Prospect
A 93-year-old Chicago man died of his injuries following a two-vehicle crash Tuesday in Mount Prospect.
Gerald Meyer was pronounced dead at 4:35 p.m. Tuesday at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Mount Prospect police said officers responded to Northwest Highway and Mount Prospect Road for a crash with entrapment at about 10:05 a.m. Tuesday.
Arriving officers found two vehicles, a Ford SUV overturned on its roof in the intersection and a Toyota sedan, police said.
The driver and passenger in the Ford SUV were extricated by the fire department and taken to Lutheran General. Meyer, a passenger in the Ford, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, authorities said.
The driver of the Ford, a 75-year-old Arlington Heights woman, sustained non-life threatening injuries, according to police.
The driver of the Toyota sedan, a 91-year-old Mount Prospect woman, was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police said their preliminary investigation revealed the Toyota was traveling south on Mount Prospect Road when it collided in the intersection with the Ford, which was headed northwest on Northwest Highway.
Mount Prospect and its Major Crash Investigation Team are investigating.
