Fremont Elementary District 79 parent selected to fill school board vacancy

Courtney Wilhelm Billittier was appointed this week to fill a vacancy on the Fremont Elementary District 79 school board.

She will succeed Michael Jandes, who resigned in June after more than 13 years on the board to focus on personal commitments. The term runs through April 2027.

A Mundelein resident, Wilhelm Billittier, has taught social studies at William Fremd High School in Palatine since 2011. She holds a bachelor’s degree in history/social science education from Illinois State University, and master’s degrees in history from Northeastern Illinois University and school counseling from Concordia University Chicago.

She is a Fremont graduate and parent of two current and one future District 79 students. She has been an active member of the Fremont PTO and served as parent liaison during the 2025-2026 school year, represented parents on the district’s recent AI Think Tank and served on the 2024 Fremont Elementary School principal interview committee.
