Dave’s Hot Chicken latest restaurant to open at Crossroads of Schaumburg Friday

The opening of Dave’s Hot Chicken on Friday will bring the new Crossroads of Schaumburg development near Woodfield Mall up to three active restaurants with more on the way.

Piccolo Buco and Cava already opened earlier this summer in the ultimately five-building, 7.4-acre development on the northwest corner of Golf and Meacham roads.

Velvet Taco is expecting to open Aug. 21, Panda Express on Aug. 24 and Paris Baguette by the end of August, according to village officials.

Vannie’s House, a bubble tea and coffee lounge, is still in the process of getting permits, said Dylan Er, an associate of project developer North American Real Estate.

Meanwhile, a high-end, fast-casual sandwich shop is in the running to take the space originally intended for Crisp & Green at the time of the April 2025 groundbreaking, Er said.

Paris Baguette itself replaces the earlier announced Naansense.

Lazy Dog is still on the way, but seeking a redesign of its previously approved freestanding building, Er said. Its construction is yet to begin.

One building will contain two non-restaurant tenants — an AT&T store relocated from nearby and Intuit, the financial technology company that makes tax preparation software.

Other than the pending redesign of the Lazy Dog building, one significant change since the spring of 2025 was the decision of Panda Express to buy the property for its own building from NARE.

“They like owning their own buildings,” Er said. “It was easier for us. It streamlined the process.”

Nevertheless, the same dynamic of the restaurants drawing on each other’s proximity still exists, he added.

“Personally, I think the tenant lineup has gotten better,” Er said.

By the time of the 2023 demolition of the former Macy’s Furniture Gallery on the prominent corner, the building had been vacant for at least six years, Schaumburg Economic Development Director Matt Frank said.

Before its Macy’s rebranding, the Marshall Field’s Home Store was built on the site where Nuclear Data had operated a research and development lab before selling the property in 1987, he added.

Improvements to the site brought by Crossroads of Schaumburg include crosswalks and sidewalks to promote accessibility from neighboring developments, new utilities, outdoor patios and lighting to ensure safety and visibility during evening hours.
