Wheaton man faces meth charges after high-speed chase through Naperville neighborhood

A Wheaton man who led Naperville police on a chase after they detected drugs in his car faces possession charges, authorities said Friday.

Jahron J. Faulkner, 24, of the 700 block of West Liberty Drive, was charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, a Class X felony, and aggravated fleeing and eluding.

Naperville Police Chief Jason Arres noted that “fleeing from the police at a high rate of speed through a residential neighborhood puts innocent people at risk, and we will not tolerate that kind of dangerous behavior in our community.”

Officials said a Naperville police officer noticed the smell of cannabis and evidence that drugs were being used illegally after he stopped a blue Kia sedan in the 0-100 block of Whispering Hills Drive around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Instead of exiting the car as requested by the officer, the driver sped off through a residential neighborhood. He stopped the sedan between two apartment buildings in the 100 block of South Whispering Hills Drive and fled on foot, authorities said.

The officer ran after the driver and was able to detain and arrest him. Police found suspected methamphetamine, psilocybin (mushrooms), cannabis traces, a large amount of cash, and more than 12 cellphones.

Faulkner also is charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance, obstruction, resisting arrest, unlawful possession of cannabis by a driver and improper window tinting.
