Oil Lamp Theater announces new Glenview home

Oil Lamp Theater on Thursday announced plans for a new theater set to open in 2028 around the corner from its current home at 1723 Glenview Road, Glenview.

The relocation announcement follows the purchase of the former Ten Ninety Brewing Co. at 1025 Waukegan Road, Glenview, by the Northbrook-based Negaunee Foundation. The foundation, which provides grants to Chicago-area performing arts and cultural institutions, will provide the theater with a long-term lease, according to an Oil Lamp spokesman.

Designed by Future Firm, the new venue will span about 11,000 square feet and include a flexible theater with a capacity of 150.

In October 2025, Oil Lamp announced its three-year, $5 million “Light the Way” fundraising campaign to expand the theater, its arts education program and its staff. To date, the campaign has raised $1.3 million, according to publicist James Juliano.

“We are actively pursuing funding not only to complete the building as projected, but to boldly transform Oil Lamp Theater from a smaller operation into a more robust organization, without losing its intimacy or heart,” he said in a prepared statement.
