Police: Lombard man inappropriately touched girl at water park

A Lombard man faces charges of inappropriately touching a minor girl early Friday evening at a Woodridge water park.

Ricky Karlic, 61, is charged with aggravated battery in a public place, a class 3 felony punishable by two to five years in prison upon conviction. Probation is also an option.

According to authorities, Karlic “made physical contact of an insulting or provoking nature” with the girl on a lazy river attraction about 5:32 p.m. Friday, at the Cypress Cove Family Aquatic Park.

Karlic appeared in a DuPage County courtroom Saturday morning and was released on the non-detainable charge. The judge ordered Karlic have no contact with the girl or anyone else under 18. He is also prohibited from entering the water park.

“While this incident is concerning, Woodridge and its parks are safe areas for all to enjoy,” said Woodridge Chief of Police Tom Stefanson in a prepared statement. “I appreciate the alert from park district staff and the quick response of Woodridge police officers and detectives in locating the suspect who was trying to leave the area.”
