Marklund Day School receives DuPage Foundation grant

To support professional development for special education professionals, the DuPage Foundation recently awarded Marklund Day School a $7,500 grant through its 2026 Spring Community Impact Grant Program.

“Our Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) are essential members of our education staff,” stated Rachel Hartenbower, Marklund’s grant manager. “They help execute behavior intervention plans, provide one-on-one support in the classroom, collect data, and help students develop communication, social, and daily living skills.”

“This generous grant from the DuPage Foundation will enable us to provide our RBTs with professional development opportunities that will enhance their ability to deliver a high quality, individualized education to our students,” Hartenbower said.

Marklund Day School is an Illinois State Board of Education-certified therapeutic day school that provides specialized education, various therapies and nursing services to students with complex medical conditions, and those with profound developmental disabilities including autism, whose needs cannot be fully met at traditional public schools.

With locations in Bloomingdale, Elgin and Geneva, Marklund Day School offers services to nearly 100 students through its MultiNeeds and Life Skills programs.

The award presentation took place at a recent grant reception held at the DuPage Foundation office in Downers Grove.
