Benedictine Four Corners partners with the village of Lisle to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary
In celebration of the 250th anniversary of American Independence, the Benedictine Four Corners community has joined together to help the village of Lisle commemorate this historic milestone.
Benedictine University, Benet Academy, Villa St. Benedict, the Benedictine Sister of the Sacred Heart and St. Procopius Abbey have partnered to create a patriotic display of 250 American flags at the corner of Maple and Yackley avenues.
The flags were installed on June 23 and will remain on display through July 6 as the Lisle community celebrates America 250.
“For generations, the Benedictine community has been an important part of the history and identity of Lisle,” said Lisle Mayor Mary Jo Mullen. “As we celebrate the 250th anniversary of American Independence, this beautiful display of flags is a wonderful reminder of our shared values, community spirit, and the people and organizations that make Lisle such a special place to call home.”
Members of the community are invited to participate in the celebration by sponsoring a flag through any of the Benedictine Four Corners organizations.
The 3-foot x 5-foot American flags are hand stitched, Made in America, and available for a sponsorship of $75.
Flags will be available for pickup following the display on July 7. Community members can visit each organization’s website for additional information.
The Benedictine Four Corners represent a unique partnership among the Benedictine institutions located in Lisle. Rooted in a shared history and commitment to faith, education, service, and community, the organizations are honored to join the Village of Lisle in celebrating this once-in-a-generation anniversary.
Together, the Benedictine Four Corners invites neighbors, families, alumni, residents, and friends to visit the display and celebrate the communities that continue to shape our future.
