Police: Man shot gun through wall and hit man sleeping on couch
A Glendale Heights man has been accused of shooting a gun through a wall and hitting a sleeping person in another room.
Fernando Cardoso, 21, of the 400 block of James Court, is charged with reckless discharge of a firearm, a felony, according to DuPage County court records.
Glendale Heights police were called to his apartment around 4:05 a.m. Tuesday. They say Cardoso was handling a .45-caliber handgun in a bedroom when the gun fired. The bullet went through a wall and hit a man who was sleeping on a couch.
The man was hit in the chest. He was treated at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove and released, police said in a news release.
Police said Cardoso had a valid Firearm Owner’s Identification card.
Cardoso is being held in the DuPage County jail pending a pretrial release hearing.
