Fox River Grove receives sixth consecutive Excellence Award for Financial Reporting
The village of Fox River Grove has once again been recognized for excellence in governmental financial reporting, receiving the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the fiscal year ended April 30, 2025.
This marks the sixth consecutive year that the village has received the prestigious award, which is widely regarded as the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting.
The Certificate of Achievement recognizes governmental entities that produce annual financial reports that go beyond basic reporting requirements by providing clear, comprehensive, and transparent financial information. Reports submitted for consideration undergo a rigorous review by an independent panel to ensure they meet the high standards established by the GFOA program.
Village President Marc McLaughlin said the award reflects the village’s long-standing commitment to responsible financial management and accountability to residents.
“Receiving this recognition for a sixth consecutive year is an outstanding accomplishment and speaks to the professionalism and dedication of our staff,” McLaughlin said. “Financial transparency is essential to maintaining public trust. This award demonstrates our commitment to providing residents with clear, accurate, and meaningful information about how public resources are managed.”
Achieving the Certificate of Achievement requires significant effort and attention to detail. The award recognizes not only the quality of the village’s financial reporting, but also its ongoing commitment to accountability, sound budgeting, long-term financial planning, operational efficiency, and fiscal stewardship.
Over the past decade, the village’s focus on operational efficiency and continuous improvement has produced measurable results. These efforts have helped transform Fox River Grove into a debt free community, improve police pension funding from 19% to approximately 63% funded, and facilitate more than $23 million in community and infrastructure investments over the last decade. Continued recognition from the GFOA reflects the village’s commitment to maintaining strong financial practices while delivering value to residents and taxpayers.
The Government Finance Officers Association represents public finance professionals throughout the United States and Canada and administers the Certificate of Achievement program to encourage and recognize excellence in governmental financial reporting.
