Wheaton’s Gary UMC celebrates graduates with handmade afghans and blessings

Gary United Methodist Church in Wheaton recently celebrated high school graduates with afghans knitted by church members.

The hope is that as the graduates move on to the next stage of their lives, they feel wrapped in love.

Graduates also received Dr. Seuss’s book, “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!” signed by church members. The congregation prayed for the graduates as they received the gifts.

The church at 224 N. Main St. has celebrated deep roots in the community since 1853. The church has vibrant music, kids, youth and adult ministries, plus opportunities for local, national and global missions. Gary Church offers summer Sunday worship at 9 a.m., including Kids’ Church and a 10 a.m. Special Blend fellowship hour. For more information, go to garychurch.org or contact the church office at office@garychurch.org.
