Lake in the Hills man faces 8th DUI charge after crash
A Lake in the Hills man is being detained in the Kane County jail as a danger to the community after being charged for the eighth time with driving under the influence of alcohol.
Robert D. Barrett, 42, of the 3000 block of Banbury Lane, is charged with aggravated DUI — sixth or subsequent violation, a Class X felony, punishable by a minimum of six years in prison.
He also is charged with aggravated DUI — accident causing great bodily harm, and aggravated DUI — driving while license revoked.
Barrett was driving a car north in the southbound lane of Randall Road in Algonquin early Sunday morning. He hit a minivan head-on. Six people were injured, according to a Kane County state’s attorney’s office news release.
His next court hearing is June 10.
