Des Plaines city manager awarded 5% pay raise
Now in her third year as Des Plaines’ city manager, Dorothy Wisniewski is getting a 5% pay bump.
Wisniewski’s annual base salary will increase to $299,370 from $285,115, the city council decided Monday. The change is retroactively effective April 1, for one year.
Wisniewski succeeded Michael Bartholomew as manager on April 1, 2024. She previously had been assistant city manager.
Mayor Andrew Goczkowski and city council members sang Wisniewski’s praises before the unanimous vote.
Fourth Ward Alderman Dick Sayad went first, lauding Wisniewski for working hard “to make the city go forward.”
“We’re very blessed to have a city manager (like) Dorothy,” he said. “She really is outstanding.”
Second Ward Alderman Colt Moylan credited Wisniewski for being the first one at city hall in the morning and the last one to leave.
Acknowledging Wisniewski’s sizable salary, Mayor Andrew Goczkowski called the sum “a good investment.”
After the vote, Wisniewski thanked the council members for their confidence in her and their support.
“It is truly a privilege to serve as city manager of Des Plaines,” she said. “I remain committed to working collaboratively with the mayor, city council, staff and the residents to move our community forward.”
Wisniewski said she looks forward to “continuing to serve the community with transparency, accountability and a strong focus on delivering high-quality services to our residents and businesses.”
