Park Ridge police say teen hurt last week was ‘roughhousing’ with friend, not attacked

Park Ridge police say a teenager was roughhousing with a friend when he suffered a head injury last week and was not the victim of an attack.

Police officials said investigators were able to collect evidence through “community assistance,” including video footage of the incident, that showed the “injury occurred while the victim was roughhousing with a teenage friend, and that the injury was accidental in nature.”

No charges were filed as police said there was no criminal intent.

The boy’s injury occurred May 18. Because of the severity of the injury, the boy was initially unable to tell investigators where he’d been hurt or what led up to him being injured.
