Lake in Hills man arrested in connection with 2025 drug death

A Lake in the Hills man was facing charges Thursday in connection with a drug-induced death that occurred last year.

Karl Petermann, 43, was arrested in his home without incident, according to Lake in the Hills police.

In July 2025, Lake in the Hills police responded to the report of a 41-year-old deceased woman.

Authorities said an investigation over several months concluded that Petermann provided cocaine to the victim prior to their death.

Police said he was to be charged with a count of drug-induced homicide and delivery and possession of a controlled substance.
