Boomers strand 10 in one-run loss to Washington
The Schaumburg Boomers left 10 men on base in a 5-4 loss to the Washington Wild Things on Sunday. Washington swept the weekend series.
The Boomers led for the first time in the series after Christian Fedko homered in the first and Will Prater led off the second with a solo blast to make the score 2-0. Washington scored five runs in the bottom of the second to nab a 5-2 edge. The Boomers were able to draw within 5-4 behind single runs in the fourth and fifth. Tony Livermore recorded a two-out RBI single in the fourth and Kyle Fitzgerald tripled home a run in the fifth.
Cole Cook struck out eight in six innings but took the loss. Aaron Glickstein worked the seventh and Tanner Shears the eighth.
The Boomers (5-4) return home on Tuesday to begin a nine-game homestand.
