Boys tennis roundup: Naperville North, Jacobs, Wauconda among conference champions

It was a busy week for boys tennis conference tournaments. Here’s a look at some of the highlights.

DuPage Valley: Naperville North claimed the team title with 45 points followed by Waubonsie Valley (38), Metea Valley (34.5) and Neuqua Valley (30.5).

The Huskies swept the three singles titles with Aarav Soni (1), Yanson Lew (2) and Ritvik Korrapapati (3) all finishing first.

Neuqua Valley's Aditya Dinesh (1), Shaurya Kanhari (2) and Keshav Menon (3) were all runners-up.

Kaushik Nanduru and Henry Oyekami from Metea Valley won second doubles.

East Suburban Catholic: Under first-year coach Tom Castronovo, Benet scored 33 points to win the East Suburban Catholic crown hosted by Carmel Catholic in Mundelein on Wednesday.

The Redwings won all three doubles. Peter Charuk-Max Cruz won at No. 1, while Max Van Vuren-Declan Robinson claimed top honors at second doubles and Dan Zeba-Allistair McCalister third.

Ian DiSanto (1) and Jack Dills (2) placed second in singles action.

St. Viator was the runner-up with 25 points. Leo Kostov (1) and Chad Carlson (2) took the top prize in singles.

Carmel Catholic was third with 23 points. Jack Halloran-Will Oakley were second at three doubles. Third-place efforts came from Jack Doyle (No. 1 singles), Jay Mohler (2 singles), Ryan Zomchak-Marcos Monroe (1 doubles) and Miles Waddel-Atharva Patel (2 doubles).

Fox Valley: Jacobs claimed the tournament title with 56 points. Huntley, the regular season champs, was second with 54 points.

Jacobs got wins from Santa Ines (1 singles), Kurtis Kornatoski-Brendan Mau (3 doubles) and Dylan Heard-Zach Hollenback (4 doubles). Daryan Do was runner-up at two singles and Svilen Kolev was runner-up at three singles while Sohan Kalra-Jack Soto took second at No. 1 doubles.

Runner-up Huntley got first-place finishes from Rithwik Depala (1 singles), Chanu Adepo (3 singles) and Adam Stec-Eashan Cheruki at two doubles. Will Geske was second at No. 1 singles while Ethan Cronin-Habib Holloway were second at three doubles.

Crystal Lake South, led by a first place effort from the No. 1 doubles team of Eryk Bucior-Zeke Boldman, took fourth with 36 points.

Cary-Grove was fifth with 32 points. Zach Nygren David Beciovic were third at third doubles.

Dundee-Crown's Aarav Shah was third at first singles.

Northern Lake County: Wauconda claimed the conference title hosted by Antioch Friday with 41 points. The Bulldogs won doubles championships at 2, 3 and 4.

The second doubles team was made up of Tim Yu and Calvin Jandula while the third team consisted of Voiros Vlahopoulos-Carson Rowe and the championship fourth team was Jackson Savage-Nate Yandura.

The first doubles team of Noah Kosiek-Noah Schmidt was second while Logan Kehoe was second at three singles.

Lakes was second with 37 points. Blaine Lasky at three singles took home the top prize while Anketh Balaji (1) and Cal Bradley (2) were second. The third doubles team of Nathan Rodriguez-Clayton Barker finished runner-up.

Grayslake Central was third with 36 points. Samay Patel at No. 1 singles placed first while Taylor Flood and Aidan Jones were runner-up at four doubles.

Grayslake North was fourth with 35 points. Julian Schmidt was first at No. 2 singles while Aldan Munday-Chris George took home top honors at first singles.

Lukas Keys and Sahruth Sanjeeva were second at second doubles.

Upstate Eight West: West Aurora claimed all four doubles and was second in the three singles brackets to repeat as Upstate Eight Conference champions with 18 points in the meet held at East Aurora on Friday.

Nolan Wyeth-Tim Plummer took top honors at No. 1 doubles, followed by Cole Loomer-Dex McWilliams (2), Tyler Byrne-Ayden Wicks (3) and Josh Hart-Noah Fuller (4).

Lucas Van Lear (1), Jonathan Hoskins (2) and Grant Klausner (3) were runner-up in singles play.

Bartlett was second with 15.5 points. Oskar Tredota claimed top honors at first singles and Tej Patel placed first at second singles. Julian Vargas was third at No. 3 singles.

The Hawks were second in all four doubles: Ayyan Quresh-Somanaash-Jhavei (1), Dylan Alvarez-Keshav Barot (2), Aakash Patel-Prit Mevado (3) and Aryan Patel Filip Mucha (4).

Elgin, paced by a first-place finish by Milan Ghayal at No. 3 singles, was third. Devon Dekarske was third at No. 3 singles. Elgin's fourth doubles team of Aydin Ali and Kush Patel also took third.

The Maroons were fourth in three doubles competitions: Tim Cellar-Demetrio Ramirez (1), Ilan Mendez-Asael Gutterez (2), and Kyle Phimmavong-Alejandrp Falcon (3).

Central Suburban League South: Hosted by Maine South, Deerfield won the title with 15.5 points. The host Hawks were sixth with three points. Maine South freshman Krystian Kostov claimed first place at No. 1 singles.

Chicagoland Christian: Wheaton Academy took top honors with 20 points. Timothy Christian was second with 13 points.

Drew Turie took top honors at No. 2 singles for the champs. The Warriors placed first in two of three doubles. Elijah Arellano and Charlie Sias took home top honors at second doubles and Daniel Li-Keesen Kihnke finished first at third doubles. Elliott Polland finished second at No. 2 singles and John Zeng-Luke Pennings were second at first doubles.

Timothy Christian's Hudson Tseng claimed top honors at No. 1 singles. Elliott Tandy was second at No. 2 singles.

DuKane: Wheaton Warrenville South, behind two first place singles finishes and two doubles championships, won the DuKane Conference title with 73 points.

Mike Medanic (2) and Patrick Kaspryzk (3) posted singles championships. The Tigers’ second doubles team of Eli Long-Grant Larson along with the third doubles team of Angel Salcido-Danny Dietlin placed first.

Mike Hauenstein took second at first singles. The fourth doubles team of Grant Brown-Ian Baugman was second.

St. Charles East behind a first place effort by top singles player Teige Donehoo and a championship from the fourth doubles team of Josh Smith-Bennett Andelman were second with 59 points. Tommy Sloncen was second at No. 2 singles for the Saints and Henry Sanders-Zach Powers took second at third doubles.

Batavia was third with 45 points. Matt Thorne was third at No. 3 singles.

Wheaton North was fourth with 43 points. The first doubles team of Henry Jonas-Sam Hill and the second doubles Evan Ciotti-Sam Pralle finished second.

Glenbard North's top doubles team of Josh Idayill-Andrew Murkowski placed first at No. 1 doubles.
