Wheaton Garden Club awards philanthropy and scholarship grants
Wheaton Garden Club recently announced its Philanthropy and Scholarship recipients for 2026.
Financial donations were made to the following organizations: Illinois Bee Rescue, Master Gardener Raised Bed Therapy Program at DuPage County Care Center, DuPage Monarch Project, and the Garden Clubs of Illinois.
The Illinois Bee Rescue donation will help support its queen bee breeding program to better pollinate farms that donate to food pantries.
The DuPage County Care Center Master Gardener Program donation will help fund raised beds allowing residents to engage in gardening for cognitive, physical, and emotional benefits.
The donation to the DuPage Monarch Project sponsored the virtual program “The Buzz in Your Garden.” The presentation provided an introduction to the many native pollinating bees making essential contributions to the health and productivity of gardens and ecosystems.
The donation to Illinois Garden Clubs helps cover costs of the State Flower Show, which will be held in Urbana on July 23-25.
The high school scholarship recipients, who will be studying various environmental sciences, are Elise Salsbury and Caleb Woods from Wheaton Warrenville South and Ashley Klobucher from Wheaton North.
The College of DuPage scholarship winner is Margaret Kurcz, who is focusing on sustainable landscape design.
