Clarendon Hills woman detained after high-speed chase, biting an officer
A DuPage County judge has denied release for a Clarendon Hills woman accused of leading police on a high-speed chase and biting an officer.
Aviance Carson, 26, of the 0-100 block of 58th Street, is in jail after being charged May 8 with aggravated battery of a government employee, fleeing and eluding police, and multiple misdemeanors and petty offenses, including leaving the scene of an accident, according to county authorities.
Investigated by DuPage County sheriff’s deputies, authorities said that Carson rear-ended a vehicle at Hinsdale South High School in Darien on the morning of May 7.
Authorities said Carson fled the scene but was located by Willowbrook police, who stopped her and asked her to get out of her car. Instead, police said, she backed up and then turned her vehicle and hit a squad car next to her.
Carson sped away, followed by police, reaching about 60 mph in a 30-mph speed zone, according to police.
Driving into an apartment complex on 58th Street, Carson got out and tried to run into the building, but officers stopped her. While they attempted to cuff her, she bit one officer and kicked at two others before police could place handcuffs on her, authorities said.
Carson will appear in court on June 1.
