Schaumburg police: Woman dead, man in custody after well-being check

Schaumburg police say they found a woman dead and took a man into custody following a well-being check late Thursday.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office ruled the woman’s death a homicide by strangulation, police said.

Police were called to the home on the 1700 block of Weathersfield Way just before 9:30 p.m.

When officers entered the home, they discovered a “deceased female victim.”

Authorities said they took a man into custody who was also inside the home.

Police noted the man was “known to the victim” and don’t believe there is any ongoing threat to the public.

The victim’s name has not been released.

No charges have been filed against the man either.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and updates will be made when more information is available.
