Local 5th and 6th graders invited to free Northbrook Baseball Community Tournament
Northbrook Baseball and the Northbrook Park District invite all fifth and sixth graders to play in the annual Northbrook Baseball Community Tournament, a free, one-day event on May 16.
The tournament consists of multiple games culminating in a championship game to crown the winners, along with clinics for all ages, food, games, charity donation opportunities and more, all taking place from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 16 at West Park, 1730 Pfingsten Road, in Northbrook.
Teams will have an even distribution of Northbrook Baseball players and any fifth or sixth graders from Northbrook interested in playing baseball.
The tournament is one of the marquee events that Northbrook Baseball, with the support of the Northbrook Park District, holds each year for baseball players in fifth and sixth grade to come together to play in a free and fun setting, said Howard Jeruchimowitz, the tournament’s director and a director of Northbrook Baseball.
“Whether you are a travel baseball player, a house player or a first-time player, this community event brings the community together to simply celebrate our children playing baseball,” he said. “There will be a pizza dinner, carnivallike games, baseball games, prizes and so much more. At the end of the day, it is kids being kids, baseball being baseball, fun being fun, and Northbrook just being Northbrook!”
Events like this remind the community why Northbrook is a special place, Recreation Supervisor Dan Catron said.
“This tournament is about giving everyone a chance to play, learn, and be a part of a fun team atmosphere. When kids with all skill levels come together to play on the same field, these memories will last a lifetime.” Registration is available through the Northbrook Park District at nbparks.org/event/northbrook-baseball-community-tournament and on the Northbrook Baseball website at northbrookbaseball.com.
In the event of a rainout, the tournament will take place on Sunday, May 17.
