Harper College Festival Chorus hosts spring concert celebrating three milestones
The Harper College Performing Arts Center Festival Chorus celebrates three birthdays with this year’s Spring Concert — the nation’s 250th, renowned English composer John Rutter’s 80th, and the Festival Chorus’s 60th.
A suite of Rutter’s pieces will be played, including: “All Things Bright and Beautiful,” “For the Beauty of the Earth,” “A Gaelic Blessing,” and “Look at the World.”
In celebration of the birth of the nation, they will be performing “A Tribute to the Armed Services,” arranged by Lloyd Larson; “America The Beautiful,” by Samuel Ward, arranged by Carmen Dragon; and Irving Berlin’s “God Bless America,” arranged by Joseph M. Marten.
The performance, led by Gregory Tipps and Sarah Inendino, will feature the harmonies of 75 choral voices and a 32-piece orchestra, filling the concert hall.
The concert will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 26, at the Performing Arts Center, 1200 W. Algonquin Road, Palatine.
General admission tickets are $20, $15 for seniors/students, or free for children under 12. For tickets, go to harpercollege.edu/boxoffice or call (847) 925-6100.
