Mount Prospect man arrested after woman attacked in apartment: police

A Mount Prospect man is facing charges after entering his ex-girlfriend’s apartment in Des Plaines and attacking her, police said Friday.

John C. Alvarez-Vera, 38, of the 1000 block of South Tamarack Drive, is charged with unlawful restraint, domestic battery, criminal damage to property and interfering with a report of domestic battery.

The attack occurred about 11 p.m. Sunday on the 1700 block of East Oakton Street.

The woman told police Alvarez-Vera entered the apartment through a window, grabbed her, slammed her to the ground, broke her phone and hit her with the phone, according to a Des Plaines police news release.

Police found Alvarez-Vera in Mount Prospect and arrested him.
