Folk favorite Anne Hills performs at Wesley’s in La Grange April 24
Wesley’s Place, a live music venue, will feature an acoustic evening with legendary singer and songwriter Anne Hills on Friday, April 24. The event takes place at 7 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of La Grange, 100 W. Cossitt Ave.
“Anne is one of the most beloved voices in folk music,” said Wesley’s director Ed Ellis. “She’s been a Chicago favorite for decades and a Wesley’s favorite since we opened the doors. We’re really thrilled.”
Hills has released dozens of albums and enjoyed international acclaim. She has had lengthy collaborations with the late songwriter Michael P. Smith, Tom Paxton and many others. The AllMusic Guide says, “A stunning soprano tone has made Anne Hills one of contemporary music’s premiere vocalists. Her knack for writing heartfelt songs brought her to the upper echelon in her craft.”
Folk singer songwriter Mark Dvorak will host the evening and perform an opening set. Dvorak’s original material has been called “wondrous” and “profound.” In 2012 WFMT 98.7 FM Midnight Special radio show named him “Chicago’s official troubadour.”
Since 2022 Wesley’s Place Live Music Venue has been presenting live music in the chapel.
“We’ve expanded our program for the 2026 season,” Ellis said. “We’ve added more shows to the schedule, and improved our publicity effort. Our last two shows were near sellouts. We’re gaining momentum and building a reputation for presenting the very best in folk and local acoustic music.”
Tickets to the family-friendly show are $20 and can be purchased at the door if seats are available. Advance reservations recommended and can be made at wesleysplacemusic.com.
