Schaumburg police still working toward conclusive ID of man found dead in pond
Schaumburg police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office continue to work to identify a man found dead in a village pond Friday afternoon.
The man’s cause and manner of death await the results of toxicology tests likely to take several weeks.
Meanwhile, police officials have contacted the family of a man they believe might be the deceased, Commander Christy Lindhurst said. The man did not live with those family members, however.
Workers cleaning the pond at the intersection of Algonquin Road and Parkside Drive notified authorities at about 2 p.m. that something resembling a human body was in the water.
The man’s body was recovered, but the only description authorities could provide was he was wearing a dark-colored hooded coat.
The man was fingerprinted as part of the early efforts to identify him, but that hasn’t sped up the identification process, police said.
