U.S. Olympic Speed Skaters bring science to life at Northbrook's Noggin Builders STEM Center
Future scientists and sports fans alike are invited to an exciting, hands-on learning experience as U.S. Olympic speed skaters visit Noggin Builders, a local STEM center, from 2-3:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 29. This free public event will blend the thrill of Olympic competition with the power of science exploration.
During the event, Olympic athletes will lead interactive STEM experiments that explore the science behind speed skating. Attendees will discover how principles like friction, aerodynamics, balance and force play a critical role in achieving peak performance on the ice. Designed to be both educational and engaging, the activities will give participants a behind-the-scenes look at how science fuels Olympic success.
“This is a unique opportunity for young learners to connect STEM concepts with real-world applications,” said Amy Torf, owner of Noggin Builders. “Having Olympic athletes demonstrate how STEM impacts their sport makes learning memorable and inspiring.”
