Wheaton railroad crossing to close for repairs

The Washington Street railroad crossing near Wheaton College is set to close next week.

Union Pacific Railroad told the city that repairs to the crossing will require it to be closed from about 9 a.m. Wednesday, April 1, through 5 p.m. Thursday, April 2, according to a notice.

A detour route will direct northbound drivers east on Crescent Street; north on President Street; west on College Avenue; and north on Washington.

Southbound traffic will be shifted east on College Avenue; south on President; west on Crescent; and back south on Washington.
