Police investigating attempted robbery in downtown Mount Prospect

Police are investigating an attempted robbery in downtown Mount Prospect Monday night.

The incident took place at the Subway restaurant, 30 E Northwest Hwy., around 7:45 p.m., according to a report from the Mount Prospect Police Department.

The victim had planned to sell a piece of jewelry and, when the buyer arrived at the restaurant, he forcefully took the jewelry and tried to run away. However, the seller was able to catch up to the potential buyer and recover the jewelry.

The potential buyer is described as a young man, Black, about 6 feet, 3 inches tall and roughly 160 pounds. He was wearing a dark color sweatshirt and dark color pants.

No injuries were reported. The Mount Prospect Police Department is investigating and encourages anyone with information to call (847) 870-5654.
